The Sumidero Canyon is a 1,000m deep, truly impressive spectacle. Native warriors, unable to endure the Spanish conquest, hurled themselves into this hungry chasm rather than endure foreign domination. Fortunately we didn’t have to do the same to experience the awesome energy of this place. All of us climbed aboard a boat this morning and set off at very high speed along the canyon. As well as the towering walls of the canyon we saw prolific wildlife including egrets, vultures, monkeys, iguanas and crocodiles. Of course the Australians of the group thought the crocs were titchy – they have handbags bigger than that!

I sure we had a vulture on our bird table in Enfield last week! Seriously though - some amazing pictures you are both taking.
