Bad Fog Of Loneliness*

5 March 2010
Our reason for staying in Queenstown (at lovely Browns Boutique Hotel) was to take a flight to and cruise around Milford Sound. We were due to fly out at 12.30pm however the day dawned foggy and rain quickly developed bringing the cloud layer even lower. We received a phone call at 11.30am telling us that the flight had been cancelled because of the weather. Another disappointment; fog seems to have prevented us doing quite a lot in NZ. By 1.30pm the sun was out, the rain had gone and blue sky had re-appeared. We think it’s called Sod’s Law.
We tried to make the best of the day by first of all by going for a walk around Queenstown Bay for a good look at The Remarkables, which proved to be fairly unremarkable but had been used as a set for something or other in LOTR. We then took the Sky Gondola ride to Bob’s Peak, which affords expansive views over Queenstown and the lake.
